Position:                                            MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (Wire & Cable Group)

Location/ Department:                  Rome, New York / Engineering (Department No. 7161)

 

This Position:

Is a member of the Engineering Department. The Mechanical Design Engineer (Wire & Cable) will report directly to a Project Team Leader.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical degree and relevant experience in machine design
  • AutoCAD and SolidWorks proficiency preferred

  Responsibilities:

  • Design new products or redesign existing products. Interfacing with customers to develop leading-edge designs, cost-effective manufacturing and excellent machine performance with oversight generally provided by Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and/or Mechanical Project Team Leader of the Wire & Cable Products Group.
    • Utilize the most current design techniques and tools
    • Designs and BOMs must be accurate, the standard is zero defects.
    • Design projects must be done in a timely manner.
    • Designs must follow all safety requirements.
    • Design within specifications for the product being mindful of cost, manufacturability, reliability and service requirements.
  • Assist in commissioning and debug of products.
    • Assure product is “as designed”
    • Review/approve all requests for changes.
    • Assure proper documentation has been recorded
    • Assure product meets specifications.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of machine process and operation.
  • Work in a team environment.
    • An active participant in team meetings, design reviews, machine reviews, kick-off meetings.
    • Interact with other departments, including Manufacturing, TSS, Sales, and Purchasing.
  • Is 100% committed to the Quality Assurance Process
    • Follows all quality procedures 100% of the time in his/her daily work.
