Position: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Location/Department: Rome, New York / Engineering

Primary Responsibilities 

This Mechanical Engineering Co-op position is for an opening within our Bartell Engineering Team. The Mechanical Engineering co-op will report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience

  • Design new products or re-design existing products with supervision using SolidWorks.
    o Utilize the most current design techniques and tools.
    o Designs and BOM’s must be accurate.
    o Design projects must be done in a timely manner.
    o Designs must be in compliance with all safety requirements.
    o Design within the specifications for the product being mindful of cost, manufacturability, reliability and service           requirements.
  • Perform commissioning and debug of products.
    o Work safely and understand machine safety.
    o Assure product is “as designed”.
    o Review/approve all applicable requests for change.
    o Assure proper documentation has been recorded.
    o Assure product meets specifications.
    o Obtain a working knowledge of machine process and operation.
  • Work in a team environment.
    o Participate in team meetings, design reviews, machine reviews, kick-off meetings.
    o Interact with other departments, including Manufacturing, TSS, Sales and Purchasing.

 Education

  • In pursuit of an Associate’s Degree or a Bachelor’s Degree

Skills & Relevant Work Experience

  • SolidWorks
  • Must be able to create all documentation required for assembly.
  • Computer skills must be excellent.
  • AutoCAD would be a plus.

Travel Requirements: Less than 25%
