Innovative manufacturing companies work to bring composites to Industrial applications
(Rome, NY) – Bartell Machinery is excited to announce it has recently entered a development agreement with Automated Dynamics of Niskayuna,, NY. The agreement will allow for both organizations to leverage their impressive technologies and will foster the development of innovative solutions allowing for the introduction of new production capabilities of composites that the engineering world can leverage to push the bounds of the possible. The new solutions will incorporate advanced composite materials in the continuous fabrication of high-performing products such as continuous pipe for oilfield applications.
Bartell (full description below) possesses decades of experience in the design and manufacturing of rotating equipment for markets such as Tire, Wire & Cable and Oil & Gas. The intent is that Bartell’s core manufacturing systems will serve as the basis for the new applications. Automated Dynamics holds designs and patents on composite processing equipment for continuous pipe solutions and brings over 30 years of composites expertise to the effort. Their composite processing technology would integrate with Bartell’s rotating equipment to create a cohesive solution that will allow for, manufacturing of continuous products using fiber composite materials. Integrating continuous fiber composite opens the design space for such products as subsea components and industrial cables, with a focus on reduced weight and improved environmental resistance.
“Bartell’s extensive equipment design and manufacturing expertise is a wonderful complement to our composite material and process knowledge,” says Automated Dynamics’ President, Rob Langone. “Together we are able to provide a more complete solution to customers looking to address needs in market areas that we currently believe are underserved. The close proximity of our businesses in upstate NY also contributes to simplifying delivery of these seamlessly integrated technologies.”
Bartell President, Patrick Morocco, states, “We are excited to participate in this effort of collaboration. Developing a strategic relationship with Automated Dynamics, one of the world leaders in composite processing solutions, allows Bartell to continue to provide unique and innovative solutions to meet our customers desire to further advance their product offerings using carbon fiber technologies.”
