Position:                                            PRODUCTION CONTROL EXPEDITOR

Location/ Department:                  Rome, New York / Production Control (Department No. 6088)

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Experience:

The Production Control Expeditor is responsible for the coordination and expedition of the flow of work and materials within or between internal departments, as well as monitor and track our outside operation processes. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment dates; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory, cost and production barriers.

Essential:

  • The Production Control Expeditor should have 1 to 3 years related job experience in working in a manufacturing environment or have a AS or BS degree in Supply Chain or Business.
  • Responsible for providing superior verbal and written communication skills required given the extensive variety of vendors and suppliers contacted on a regular basis as well as constant internal interaction with all levels and departments of the organization (Production Control, Purchasing, Accounting, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Safety, and HR). Must be service-oriented with a mindset of always looking for ways to improve and help our internal and external customers.
  • Understanding of Materials Requirements Planning (ERP/MRP) and Capacity Planning.
  • Problem Solving and Results Oriented: Monitors processes, materials, and surroundings to ensure information is reviewed, problems are detected ahead of time so as not to disrupt deliverables and ensure schedules and requirements are met.
  • Self-starter with highly developed organizational skills capable of thinking creatively in a high volume, fast moving environment. Must be able to rearrange priorities in a timely manner to satisfy changing circumstances at various levels of the production process.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong computer skills (Information Systems; Microsoft Office Suite; INFOR {XA, Mapics} or equivalent)
  • Fluency in English.
  • All candidates must comply with taking a pre-hire physical/drug test prior to starting the position.
  • All candidates must adhere to all facility-wide safety and ISO standards and practices

Desirable:

  • Experience in managing manufacturing processes, productivity, and efficiency measurements a plus.
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) a plus
  • LEAN/6S & 6 Sigma Training Certification a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing effective communication channels with all BMS manufacturing disciplines including Production Control, Accounting, Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Work from MRP reports and department shortages on a daily basis to maintain delivery schedules.
  • Contact supplier to verify shipment details.
  • Work with Materials Manager to coordinate inventory levels of floor stock.
  • Print out and deliver work order packets with drawings to appropriate departments and work centers.
  • Review documents such as production schedules to determine material requirements or material priorities.
  • Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress. Discuss needed changes.
  • Manage delivery dates and priorities for materials needing outsourced operations such as heat treating or plating.
  • Compile inventory information for status reports which will include, but not be limited to (production progress, materials inventories, materials used, customer information establishment personnel, vendors, and shipping activities).
  • This position must work independently to determine the status of critical material and communicate status to proper departments. The position does not have the authority to change schedules or establish priorities without management approval.
